Arriving by Flight to Bali is quite straightforward. The Ngurah Rai International Airport, where all flights come in, is in Tuban, just south of Kuta - though the destination is usually mentioned as Denpasar. The airport receives direct flights from much of Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America.
Many visitors fly to Bali via Jakarta, where there are more international flights. Alternatively, you can fly via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. If you're coming from the United States, most flights to Bali go via Los Angeles with stops in Tokyo.
How to get out of the airport
The Ngurah Rai International Airport is just 30 minutes from Kuta, Nusa Dua and Sanur, and about an hour from Ubud. From the airport, you have the option of taking the taxi, hotel shuttle buses and private cars. You can find car rental companies at the airport itself.
The taxi kiosk is located just outside the airport building. Expect to pay about Rp30,000 for a trip to Kuta Beach or Rp 115,000 to reach Ubud. Buy your taxi voucher and then proceed to your assigned taxi. Give the taxi voucher to the driver upon arrival.
Make all payments in rupiah. There are money changers at the airport, with exchange rates that are quite favourable. You can also use the ATM at the airport to get cash with major credit cards.
