Bali is an island in Indonesia. It is located between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. The island is one of the 33 provinces of Indonesia.
Bali covers an area of 5,633 sq km (2,253 sq miles), and has a population of 3 million people. Visitors arrive in Bali at the Ngurah Rai International Airport near Denpasar, the capital. The island has a network of roads that skirts much of the island.
The central park of Bali is mountainous. The island is volcanic, with some of its highest peaks being active volcanoes. Most of the population stay on the southern part of the island.
Unlike the rest of Indonesia, some 93% of the population of Bali are Balinese Hindus - it is truly the only Hindu oasis in a predominantly Muslim country. The people of Bali has highly developed their arts, including their dances, woodcarving, painting, metalwork, songs and music, and have effectively merged their culture with their religion.
